Fretless Bass

If Marco is the head of the Blue Heat beast, then Graeme, along with his brother Barry, is its heart and soul.

Graeme was the third member of the band formed by Marco for the 1991 Ballarat Blues Festival. The three musicians, Marco, Barry, and Graeme, enjoyed playing together so much that they decided to remain as a band after the festival. This band became the nucleus for Blue Heat.

While most bass guitarists play the more conventional fretted electric bass, Graeme betrays his jazz origins through his use of the instrument's fretless form. While more difficult to play, the fretless bass offers its master a near infinite number of note variations, and Graeme is most definitely the master.

You may not notice Graeme's presence on stage, since he tends to stand to one side, or at the back, but take away the rock-solid wall of sound that emanates from his bass, and you would surely notice his absence.
